How to Use Trello for Time Tracking

You can use Trello to organize just about everything, but it doesn't offer any out-of-the-box tools for tracking your time. That doesn't mean you can't use Trello for time tracking, though.

There are a bunch of simple time tracking applications that integrate with Trello, as Trello outlined in this post. And if you're already using a time tracking application Zapier can help. Here, we'll show you how to connect Trello to Toggl, RescueTime, and Harvest, but it will work with almost any time tracking tool you use.

Connecting Toggl and Trello

Toggl is an easy-to-use time tracking application that can run on basically every device, and you can connect it to Trello. For example, you can create new Trello cards any time you start tracking a new task in Toggl:

This makes it easy to keep track of what you worked on in Trello, without having to use any other tools.

You can also use Trello as the trigger, finding and stopping time entries when cards move to a certain list:

Connecting RescueTime and Trello

RescueTime tracks everything you do on your computer, allowing you to better understand where your time went. Connecting RescueTime to Trello makes it even easier to do that.

For example, you can create Trello cards whenever an hour of uncategorized time is logged in RescueTime.

This makes it easy to spot those chunks of times you haven't properly assigned in RescueTime.

You can also send information from Trello over to Rescuetime. For example, you can add highlight log entries to RescueTime when new Trello cards are moved to a list:
